There's going to be a spin-off of the Castlevania anime featuring Richter Belmont and Maria Renard from Rondo of Blood; they'll likely meet up with Alucard, which means the spin-off will also cover Symphony of the Night. This is good news -- if there's going to be a continuation, then Symphony of the Night is definitely one of the top picks for adaptation -- though I'm a little sad about my Castlevania OT3 changing. (It's understandable, since Richter's period is a few hundred years after Trevor and Sypha's.) I'd also be a bit unhappy if the spin-off follows Alucard's fate in Symphony of the Night...he deserves better than that. :(

BTW Warren Ellis won't be writing for the spin-off following allegations of abuse. I'm not really a fan, so this doesn't affect me as much as it has other people who were deeply influenced by him, but I am disappointed in him -- I expected more from the writer behind Transmetropolitan's incisive social commentary. *sigh* Fwiw he completed all four seasons of Castlevania; maybe it makes sense for a different writer to take on the spin-off. I'll just have to wait and see.

I was so hyped for the Gokushufudou anime when I first heard about it some months ago; I thought an anime wouldn't happen because there was already a live-action drama, then I read the news that Netflix was going to make an anime and they had cast one of my favorite voice actors, Tsuda Kenjirou. It was like a dream come true.

Then I watched the first episode as soon as it came out...and I realized that it was more of a motion comic with better production values than an actual anime. Even the OP was better animated than the actual episode.

I don't blame the animators or any of the people who worked on it; according to an Anime News Network article about the series, the decision to turn it into what it is now likely came down from someone higher up the hierarchy. The animators and the director did their best with what they had.

For what it's worth, TsudaKen delivered exactly what I expected; I'll admit to watching worse shows in the past just for his voice. At least this one only has five episodes at around 15 minutes each (without the OP and ED).

Speaking of TsudaKen... A part of me wishes this could have been the live-action version instead. TsudaKen used to be an actor before he shifted to voice acting, after all.
