WIP report: 15 Jun 2021

Castlevania OT3. Already past the halfway point of 21 Days to a Novel -- I'm currently at the worldbuilding part, which is largely character-based (ie, defined by the interactions between the world and the characters). I also wrote a lot of notes about an epilogue to the epilogue featuring my OT3's descendants, and I likely got way ahead of myself there. ^^;; All the same, it was interesting to consider what it would be like for roughly half the family to be descended from Dracula and the other half to be descended from Dracula's mortal enemies. I imagine that the OT3 would raise their children carefully to avoid conflicts getting out of hand, though that could possibly break down after a generation or so. There's also the fact that Alucard will likely outlive his human family, which saddens me even if it gives me a lot of angst to work with. (I have such a weak spot for lonely cinnamon rolls like Alucard; I just want them to be happy.)

Anyway, I might actually finish all of the 21 Days to a Novel exercises for once, and I'm looking forward to that. ^-^

I have discovered that I have way more ships that involve one functionally immortal (or at least very long-lived) party and someone else who is not. I'm also fairly happy-endings-only when it comes to reading fic (not to discount how good bittersweet or tragic stories can be or anything, but it's just not what I'm looking for with fic.) This causes some internal conflict for me, haha, though most fandoms have some conventions that provide a workaround.

I'm no stranger to getting ahead of myself on an AU timeline, lol. I have a hugely long mostly-unwritten fic that I've already got like, two full sequels daydreamed about. (Though the idea of a family with such a complicated hereditary between sworn enemies is a compelling one! I'd read the hell out of that in a fic or an original story... and there's also at least some hope that hey, the opposite sides DID come together at one point.)

Good luck finishing up the exercises!

Same. I tend to be all right with happy-for-now endings, and am fine with stories addressing it... I just don't tend to enjoy tragedy, ha. I've tried to figure out how to handle it with an unwritten AU that involved angels and demons and humans. Vampires and werewolves often have some option to turn a mortal lover immortal (or long-lived), depending on the specific mythology of the work. A few fandoms I know of favor reveals of secret immortality for the "human" partner, either through a secretly inhuman bloodline, or through magical intervention... I've seen lots of methods for "solving" the dilemma, and assuming the proper setup is given, I enjoy it.

I imagine that even after they hit the lovers end of the cycle, they would absolutely still snipe at each other constantly, haha. It may be done in a more loving way, but they would still get into it. And I'm sure Sypha would be fed the hell up with breaking it up, lol. Definitely could add some very interesting interpersonal drama for the hypothetical kids.
